The “whataboutism” definition in fact delegitimizes important vetting of claims made by media and government. How can you assess the dependability of a source if you can’t bring up its past actions and opinions. If you applied this theory to a courtroom, an attorney could never question the past efforts or conclusions of an expert witness because what only mattered were the claims before the court! Insane!

Furthermore, your own article has misclaims. The U.S. still operates in Iraq, for one thing.

Censoring the crimes of one side in a conflict that have not been either investigated or proven results in the production of propaganda, not truth.

It is a fact that both sides in this conflict use “bots” and propaganda to convince us of the “justice” of their side. Closing off information is not the solution. It is how one covers up inconvenient or embarrassing information. They say that truth is the first casualty of war. Let’s not hasten that crime!
