Coming to your article a bit on the late side. Matters to chew on, so thanks. But one thing I can’t let slide. I was there. You wrote of opposition to the 1991 Gulf War, “The war faced almost no opposition at home, compared to Vietnam’s mass demonstrations…” That’s not true!
There were many demonstrations against Bush, Sr.’s invasion of Iraq. The one I was at in San Francisco must have been well over 100,000 attendees. This was mirrored across the country, and even around the world. I believe it was such protest that led the US to terminate its occupation of Iraq at that time.
